After reading your posting and thinking about the hanged man and Christ, and your reference to Catherine, I wondered if there were any Dominican's in Tallinn. Catherine of Siena is the patron saint of Dominicans. I did a little research. It seems that in Tallinn there is an old Dominican Monastery established around 1246 next to St. Catherine's Church. Their most respected and learned Prior was Mauritius, an Estonian who studied in Cologne with Albertus Magnus. The friars financed themselves through farming, fish trade and establishing a brewery in which they made 4 kinds of beer.

The monastery was destroyed and later part of it rebuilt. It has a large collection of carved stones.

St. Catherine's Passage is along the back of what used to be the church. There is a St. Catherine's Guild of craft workers and shops there.

Thanks for the promptings. I had fun doing a little research. More importantly, I love that you are dreaming with the people in Estonia and I rejoice in your vision of new light, brightness, energy for all of life. I send good wishes and blesses to you and our new friends in Estonia.Carol Davishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11165693767030781887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-925549664214256461.post-58959673284083703282011-04-16T02:14:57.520-04:002011-04-16T02:14:57.520-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.ninahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07681001278538562028noreply@blogger.com
