Thank you. I lived at the foot of the Black Hills as an adolescent and teenager. I spent this morning with my mother going through pictures and stories of grand and great grand parents who lived in SD. The Black Hills are strong dreaming land for me. As a child I had this recurring dream I no longer call nightmare. I flew from a deep circular hole in the ground, through these piercing light threads, back to my body. Interesting that I had this dream whenever we would move. I have learned how to work with dreams and visions since I met you Robert. Perhaps if I had had these working skills when I met that large mountain goat (not a vision) on top of Harney Peak, I would have had a better sense of humor around the tumbling goat man dreams attempting to guide me through a swifter divorce a few years ago. I am looking forward to refining, growing and learning more.Patriciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14475407354190409346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-925549664214256461.post-24227330118064938732015-08-04T08:49:08.928-04:002015-08-04T08:49:08.928-04:00Thank you for this back story. I first read Black...Thank you for this back story. I first read Black Elk Speaks after my fiance spent a summer and fall season in the Black Hills and Theodore Roosevelt National Park studying the cottonwoods. He and his brother camped on the land for many weeks, and one night (while I was in Mexico undergoing one of the most potent rituals of my life thus far, an initiation ceremony), he and his brother were overwhelmed by a vision in the night sky. They both saw it, though neither had been aware of or open to that kind of phenomena in the past, and were both overwhelmed with emotion. The moon, stars, and clouds converged to tell the story of the world - past, present, and future, in visions.

He later told a close friend, a long-time ranger on the land, about his experience, who in turn told him about the book Black Elk Speaks.

The land is powerful there.ljkittyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15393612309894978198noreply@blogger.com
